Royal Port Alfred is the prestige-and-scenery golf day - one of only four Royal clubs in South Africa, a links spanning the Kowie River and bordering the Indian Ocean, where you can watch whales from the tees in winter. The clubhouse function room takes about 80, so it's a corporate-golf-day-plus-dinner venue rather than a conference one, with no accommodation and a 130-kilometre run from the Bay's airport. B&W books it for a Sunshine Coast golf day where the Royal name and the river-and-ocean setting are the whole experience.
