The Elangeni & Maharani is Durban's beachfront conference workhorse - two towers, seventeen event spaces, a Great Ilanga ballroom at 500 and roughly 734 rooms to absorb the whole delegation on the Golden Mile. The five subdividable suites give real exhibition and breakaway flexibility that smaller hotels can't match. The known wobble is age: reviews swing on dated rooms and maintenance, so B&W sets expectations and dresses the ballroom properly. For a big residential conference that wants sand outside the door, it remains the default.
