Cape Town City Hall
Overview & Capacity
City Hall is the Cape's grandest room per rand: a 953-seat hall built in 1905 in grandiose French Second Empire style, with celebrated Grand Hall acoustics, a pipe organ, a carillon and the balcony Mandela spoke from in 1990. Beyond the Grand Hall there are two more bookable rooms - the 184-seat Minor Hall and the teak-panelled 226-seat Banqueting Hall - so it flexes from orchestral gala to ceremonial dinner. Being a heritage building, amplified sound needs prior City approval, and there is no in-house catering, so we bring the full production and hospitality stack ourselves. Booking is direct with the City ([email protected]) and 2026 tariffs are published, so budget lead time for the paperwork. For prestige evenings where gravitas matters, nothing downtown touches it.
B&W Production Notes
