The five modules

Work through them in order — each one builds on the last — or jump to the topic you need.

Module 1

Microphones for Event Crew

How microphones work and which one to put on what — dynamic vs condenser, polar patterns, cables, wireless, placement, gain and killing feedback. Ends with a fault-finding table.

Module 2

Sound Basics

How a PA works from the mixer to the speaker. Decibels, amplifiers, ohms, series and parallel wiring, and how to set up a small system that sounds right and does not blow up.

Module 3

Line Arrays & Subwoofers

Why a line of speakers throws further than a single box, how column and true line arrays work, and how to place, align and tune subs — cardioid setups and safe ground stacking.

Module 4

Lighting Basics

What each fixture does at an event, how colour and DMX work, how to cable and power a rig, and how to hang it safely. The lights you will actually meet on site.

Module 5

Event Power

Volts, amps and watts. Single- and three-phase, commando plugs, distros and generators, and how to split a 63 A supply down to a socket without tripping anything or hurting anyone.
